Post Big Sur Runs

Distance: 194.6 Miles
Time: 30:27:04
YTD: 474.25 Miles
Location: Multiple Runs.

Bleep! Missed it by that much. My goal for running in 2008 was to complete a marathon (DONE!) and run a total of 500 miles. Only made 475 Miles came up 25 short. I guess I should have run more than 66 times in the year. I will have to do better in 2009. I found out that the truth is not having a goal means not running. Will have to set lofty goals this year.

Big Sur Marathon

Distance: 26.2 Miles
Time: 3:39:01
YTD: 279.6 Miles
Location: Big Sur Marathon, Carmel California.

Beautiful morning - a little chilly but warmed up nicely after battling a stiff headwind for the first 20K. Then was too damn hot for the last 10K. Whoever said that if you were only going to run one marathon this should be it! Did not say that there were no flat parts in the course, just transitions between up and down. The scenery was nice but tough tough course. On a positive note wore my running room team Canada shirt and everyone kept yelling go Canada. Made me feel good.

The cart shows the pace and elevation changes over the four hours of running. Overall I was pleased with the result but slowed down too much and took longer walk breaks over the last half. I will have to keep that in mind for next time.

Final Training Pre Big Sur

Distance: 39.7 Miles
Time: 5:50:33
YTD: 253.6 Miles
Location: Several Runs leading up to Big Sur.

Not the best way to do this, I have probably not included runs that I know I did but did not have my garmin charged for. The last week was complicated by a trip to Chicago which precluded all running. Business forced an accelerated taper, that is my story and I am sticking to it.
