Second Run of Spring?

Distance: 12.5 Km
Time: 1:33

Another Sunday, Another Long Run, Another foot of Fresh Snow!

Gotta wonder what is going on with global warming this is the snowiest spring I can recall. It made for another very interesting run albeit a slow one. We had two choices - either run in the ruts made by the cars and fight traffic or run through the fresh snow on the unshoveled sidewalks. We chose the ruts. Ran with a gentleman that was representing the big run for theater calgary. Interesting chap - just retired and starting a new career building environmentally friendly Holmes with Mike Holmes. Cool talk on the long slow run.

I did not wear my orthodics as I did not know how far the run was going to be and I had not worn them at all since I had the last adjustment. I did not have a healthy breakfast or hydrate well before hand. Did get a good nights sleep of about 7.5 hours. I am feeling the extra effort that fresh snow takes as I write this tonight.

First Run of Spring

Distance: 28 km
Time: 3:24:25

First Run of Spring and it was a triple double! 28 Km - 25 Degrees (F) and 20 cm of Fresh Snow.

Was a long slow run with the effort 20% - 30% more than normal, it was like running on a soft sand beach no grip and sliding every stride. The route was also quite hilly with drivers that did not want to share the road. I guess we will see how I feel tomorrow. I did take some pics on the run and will post some on face book and here.

Tough Run but Fun!

On a philosophical note I know that what I am doing is stupid! They say that if you can only do one run a week it should be a long one (LSD) but I seem to be making a habit of it. Gotta change that if I want a decent time, also will need to find faster partners to train with.

Distance: 22.5 KM
Time 2:27:01

Well the Jam Tarting is Over!!! The temperatures are getting into plus numbers and my wife is back from her trip so i guess I have no excuse about running.

I did not run with the orthodics and still felt a little pressure at bottom of the arch. Somewhere around 15-20 K I started to feel a blister develop. Still feeling tightness and slight pain in my ankles. I am sure that it is a sensitivity in the tendons. Also started to feel a little pressure around nd my left SI joint. Jammed my ankle on a curb at the end of the run am feeling it after the run. And to top it all off I dressed for -15, could have run in shorts and 2 torso layers.

God I sound like an Old Man with all the griping about injuries, Hell I am an Old man so I guess it is justified.

Overall it was a good run, I am tempering the distance (lack of running) with slower times and it seems to be working OK. Spring is here and is great running, however had to be very careful about the ice situation. If the temps hold this should be resolved this week.
