Streak to the beach - Day 20
Time : 42:51Minutes
Distance : 5.0 Miles
This Week: 23.10 Miles
Total: 66.68
The weather went to crap this morning, the temperature plunged overnight and the wind shifted from the North. North winds are never a good thing here, usually are bitingly cold and in spring could bring white stuff.
I laid in bed until 10:00 then decided that if I was going to do this “Run for Boston” event to show solidarity with the running community I had to get up. I drove down to the river and met up with the assembled masses.
It was a pretty good turn out for an ad hoc event thrown together on social media and on a day when the weather was turning nasty. There was no route, there was no distance you just showed up and ran.
I decided to run towards downtown (with the masses) and then loop back on the other side of the river.
At the bridge there were still many people following and continuing on. It was a great way to show support.
On the way back conditions deteriorated. There was a section of the path that was still covered in ice and snow. The wind picked up and it was a fairly strong head wind with no protection. Then it started to snow, not really hard but c'mon on April 20th Snow. Give us a break. I looped back to the finish area and much to my surprise there was bananas, water and coffee. It was still very chilly so I grabbed a banana and a bottle of water and headed home.
many thanks to Trevor Haufbauer, a Sait student for organizing this event.
A good Day
Plod on.
